People have different ideas about right and wrong. Some think that different opinions on right and wrong mean there is no final answer to the sort of behaviour we should try to have in life. Each individual should decide for themselves what is right and wrong. However, we believe we should have clear standards of good and bad. If we do good things, our life will improve in the future. If we do bad things, even by mistake, it may ruin our lives in the future. We should learn about the future results of our actions so we can choose the sort of future we want.

When we are inexperienced, we might learn about good and bad behaviour by trial and error. If we are lucky, we can borrow valuable experience from other people around us, hopefully learning from their mistakes instead of our own. Those whose experience we rely upon will affect our idea of the norms of good and bad behaviour in life.

There are some people who can be very misleading examples to follow. They might be troublemakers and drag us into their problems if we get too close. We call such people “fools”
